Fethiye - to Karacaören

(75 nm approximately)

Saturday: Arrival in Fethiye. Get to know your boat and the flotilla leaders, then go shopping, and in the evening eat in one of the pleasant local restaurants.

Sunday: At 09:00 hrs a chart briefing is held in the MOD Café, within the marina. Information will be given on the route for the week and general “dos and don’ts”.

Tersane Island (15 nm) and a family run restaurant in a natural setting, where there are numerous ruins dating from Lycian and Byzantine times. Pay cash at the restaurant. Toilets onshore.

Monday: Sarsala (5 nm) is one of our favourite bays in the Fethiye Gulf, with a jetty with moorings. The restaurant is newly renovated and the jetty is new. Climb the hill for a wonderful view over the gulf. Pay cash at the restaurant. Toilets and cold shower onshore.

Tuesday: Karacaören (15 nm) is a pleasant anchorage in a stunning location, protected by cliffs and the reef to the south. Go ashore by dinghy for dinner, where the family run restaurant is ‘vintage’ Turkey, and many of the dishes are prepared in a wood-burning oven. Pay cash.

Wednesday: Boynuz Bükü (20 nm) is a large, well-protected bay with lots of pine and other trees. You can walk to the nearby waterfall and, in the evening, have dinner in the lovely restaurant gardens. Sometimes you can pay by card but have cash available. Road access, toilets and two showers onshore, electric and water on the dock for a small fee.

Thursday: Tomb Bay, Lycia Restaurant (5 nm). This is one of the many lovely bays in the Fethiye Gulf that can only be reached by boat.  Charming Turkish hospitality in a beautiful location. On entering the bay you will see the Lycian rock tombs. Pay cash. Toilets and showers (two inside and two outside!) onshore.

Friday:  Return to Fethiye Ece Marina (15 nm). If there are enough participants we can organise a small regatta. In the evening enjoy dinner in a nice restaurant in the bazaar.

Should clients have booked a two-week flotilla holiday they will be given advice on places to visit during their free sailing days, until the flotilla is reunited at an appointed destination.

NB It is best to bring cash with you, as there are no cash machines en-route. A rough guide per couple is 300 TL per evening meal (two meals including meze starter, a bottle of wine, water and a few beers). The more you drink the higher the bill. Eg Leona wine 80 TL per bottle, beer 15-20 TL, main meal 80TL per person.

Electric and water available once each week. Showers limited. Phones can be charged in the restaurants.

The weather can be very hot so it is a good idea to bring a rehydration formula (eg Berocca) with you, as the pharmacy closest to the marina may not be open.

13 and 27 May, 10 and 24 June, 8 and 22 July, 5 and 19 August, 2, 16 and 30 September and 14 October, 2017

Flotilla routes can be subject to change at the discretion of the flotilla leaders.
